The Clearwater Jazz Holiday: An Illustrious History
Initially presented on the back of a flatbed truck, the Clearwater Jazz Holiday has grown by leaps and bounds over the years, and now draws better than 35,000 to Clearwater’s Coachman Park to hear some of the world’s greatest jazz musicians—as well as high-profile performers from all sorts of other genres—work their magic.
Some indisputable legends have taken the Clearwater Jazz Holiday stage across those four decades, among them such jazz luminaries as Dizzy Gillespie, the Count Basie Orchestra, Dave Brubeck, Buddy Rich, and Stan Getz. Outside the jazz spectrum, festivalgoers have been treated to sets by everyone from Bonnie Raitt and Tony Bennett to Sheryl Crow, the Avett Brothers, and Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros.
The 2019 Festival: Boyz II Men to Trombone Shorty
This year’s Clearwater Jazz Festival takes place October 17th through the 20th. The 2019 headliners comprise Boyz II Men on Thursday, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue on Friday, Chicago on Saturday, and Alison Krauss on Sunday.
There are plenty of other unmissable acts, though, including Polyrhythmics and the Soul Rebels (Thursday), Robert Randolph & The Family Band (Friday), Blood, Sweat & Tears (Saturday), and Yonder Mountain String Band (Sunday).
There’ll be a variety of food vendors plying their eats on the grounds, including Seafood Market, Pacific Rim Noodles, and the BBQ Spot.
