A Local’s Guide to Clearwater Beach, Florida

Hotel Cabana is located on the north end of the island of Clearwater Beach. Stay with us and you’ll be ready to explore the island like a local.

Quieter Beaches

Your room is just steps away from the beach with sugar-white sand and smaller crowds than the south end. Take a short drive south to Bellair Beach or Indian Rocks Beach for a slightly different beach experience.

Hopping the Trolley(s)

If you want to explore the Gulf Islands without the hassle of driving, hop on the Suncoast Beach Trolley. The route ends in Pass-a-Grille and takes you through all the beach towns along the way. Jump off at John’ Pass, Treasure Island or St Pete Beach for lunch. Don’t want to venture too far? Hop aboard the Jolley Trolley for transportation around Clearwater Beach, downtown Clearwater and Sand Key. Transfers are available for the Coastal Route with stops in Dunedin and Tarpon Springs.

Natural Wonders

Caladesi Island State Park is only reachable by the ferry or by private boat and is consistently ranked as one of the finest beaches in the country. Looking for a little more adventure? Hike the trails through shady oak and palm hammocks or paddle through mangroves.

Sand Key Park is a world-renown bird-watching destination. Discover herons, egrets, and other waterbirds from the benches on the trail around the salt-marsh. Restrooms and areas to enjoy a picnic lunch make this a perfect day trip from our hotel.

Local Eats & Drinks

Pearly’s Beach Eats, The Bait House and the Palm Pavilion are some of our walkable favorites for casual island-style dining. Check out our full list of wining-and-dining recommendations right here or ask us when you arrive.
