Your fee includes the tackle and bait as well as a daily license. We recommend bringing clothes you’re OK getting wet in—including a lightweight long-sleeve shirt and a good sun hat—plus sunglasses, sunblock, and water.
Ryan knows our local fishing grounds like the back of his hand. His skills and savvy mean you’ll spend the day on a gorgeous beach, catching fish and learning about the local ecosystem. Some of his most memorable hauls are a 12-foot-long, 300-pound hammerhead shark, a 120-pound tarpon reeled in right off the beach, and a 42-inch snook. Besides his work as a fishing guide, Ryan assists the Clearwater Aquarium and NOAA with monitoring of local shark populations.
Common Inshore Gamefish In & Around Clearwater Beach
Many species of gamefish are caught surfcasting on-shore including: spotted sea trout (aka speckled trout), red drum (aka redfish), and common snook. Other species include the mighty tarpon (the preeminent gamefish in Tampa Bay and Florida), Spanish mackerel, bluefish, grouper, sheepshead, jacks, pompano, and Gulf flounder. Sharks are also a common catch.
